Jakarta PERINGATAN Ulasan The Best of Me ini mungkin mengandung spoiler atau bocoran cerita dan kenangan terhadap mantan. Saat menonton film yang diangkat dari novel Nicholas Sparks setiap orang sepatutnya tidak datang untuk sebuah tontonan yang berat, bakal memantik otak untuk bekerja lebih keras saat mencerna cerita. Tidak. Pun begitu dengan `The Best of Me` ini. `The Best of Me` dibuka dengan perkenalan kita pada tokoh utama prianya, Dawson Cole, ketika dewasa diperankan James Marsden si Cyclop di X-Men. Dawson Cole ini adalah tipikal karakter utama yang sangat khas karakter utama rekaan Nicholas Sparks seorang pria kelas pekerja berbadan macho tapi romantis. Seperti juga kisah Nicholas Sparks lain, Dawson Cole hanya memiliki satu wanita sebagai cinta sejatinya. Wanita itu bernama Amanda. Sebuah kecelakaan di rig-kilang minyak tengah laut-melempar tubuh Dawson ke laut. Di saat antara hidup dan mati, dia kemudian melihat sosok Amanda seolah berada di depannya. Setelah dirawat dan sembuh, Dawson mendapat telepon. Ia dikabari seorang yang dikenalnya meninggal dan ada wasiat yang dititipkan padanya. Di tempat lain, Amanda ketika dewasa diperankan Michelle Monaghan juga mendapat kabar yang sama. Baik Dawson dan Amanda kemudian pulang ke kampung halaman. Keduanya bertemu setelah lebih dari 20 tahun berpisah. "Kau mungkin takkan mengerti, tapi aku memberi yang terbaik dariku, dan setelah kau pergi, semuanya tak pernah sama lagi." *** Yang sangat terasa saat nonton `The Best of Me` adalah betapa filmnya begitu ingin mengikuti jejak The Notebook 2004 yang hingga kini mungkin menjadi film terbaik dari novel Nicholas Sparks bagi banyak orang. Kita dengan mudah mengidentifikasi Luke Bracey, si Dawson Cole muda, terasa hendak mengikuti Ryan Gosling saat main `The Notebook`. Begitu juga dengan Liana Liberato yang berakting menggemaskan seperti orang mengingat Rachel McAdams dahulu di `The Notebook`. Setting flashback tahun 1980-an di novel aslinya dipindahkan ke awal tahun 1990-an di versi filmnya. Hal ini tampaknya agar versi film terasa lebih dekat ke penonton yang disasar, yakni generasi 1990-an. Mereka adalah penonton yang di awal 2000-an kemarin begitu jatuh cinta pada `The Notebook`. Diharap, generasi ini pun bakal jatuh cinta lagi pada `The Best of Me`. Generasi ini mungkin masih teringat ketika nonton `The Notebook` bareng pacar lama dan begitu tersentuh dengan cerita cinta sejati di film itu. Sepuluh tahun kemudian ternyata ada yang putus dengan pacar saat nonton `The Notebook` dahulu. Nah, `The Best of Me` ini bisa menjadi pengingat akan mantan kekasih. Oleh karena itu, meski film romantis, `The Best of Me` sejatinya tak dianjurkan ditonton bareng pacar. Sebab, kalau usai nonton film ini malah teringat dengan mantan terindah urusannya bisa berabe.
